Catching up. Again!
Tell us about a character who surprised you.Alright, I would usually tell you Conrad because I sort of expected him to be impossible to write and most likely to never get much character development. Thanks to Caleb, this wasn't the case and because of that, I've come to notice how unpredictable he can be when it comes to his reactions. He just kind of evolved on his own and only upon re-reading his threads do I realize the certain quirks he has, his concerns, his weaknesses, strengths, dreams - and oddly enough (or should I say luckily), he's been relatively consistent when it comes to that. I had no idea. But now I have a better grip on who he is and I never thought I would ever have that with him.
But Noah's the new one that takes the cake. I haven't written him out much with anyone (getting those posts ready for threading, though!), but he's an unusually loud muse. And he's nothing like me - unlike Stavros and Conrad. His personality took me completely by surprise, as did his reactions in his journal entry to those that commented. There were moments that I would furiously type something out, so sure the muse wanted to say it and, when I re-read it, I was shocked at how blunt he could be, LOL. I nearly edited his comments out of slight embarrassment, but stopped myself since it just sounded so right for him. He's a weird one. I'm still not sure if I can keep up with him, but time and threads will tell. I get the feeling that he's going to be a lot of fun.
Tell us about a character relationship that surprised you.Wow. Both of the ones I currently have going, actually. With Dextros, I never expected Dexter to reciprocate Stavros' feelings. I always wrote Stavros liking Dexter expecting a one-sided crush, but it just turned out to be so much more. Then, when their relationship began to develop, I first expected them to have so many issues that they wouldn't last. But damn, they proved me wrong twice. I can't really explain it well enough to give it justice, but their relationship is very interesting to me because of its idealistic surface and rather complicated interior. It doesn't seem like much when you sort of skim over it, but when you actually get to the heart of it, there's so much struggle with fear and insecurity, all held together with Stavros' stubborn optimism/devotion towards Dexter and Dexter's need/love towards Stavros. Who knows what lies ahead for those two?
As for Conrad and Caleb...to be honest, I expected it to have been a definite one night stand. But that was when I
put up the thread in which he and Caleb met. By the end of it, I just wasn't sure anymore, since Conrad had reacted so
differently than I had expected, I was sort of left blindsided! Then when Elle and I wrote "Burdens," he did it
again and pushed Caleb away to such an extent that I thought that was it. But then Conrad kept
pinning over him afterwards and that's when I knew that he was smitten! That asshole, giving me mixed signals. I love what it did to them, though - it showed how obsessed the two really are with the other, so much that at times they almost hate themselves for wanting each other that much. It's just a sort of pull - I don't know how, but they're always drawn together. It's crazy, it's fun, love it as well.
Tell us about a plot when the consequences surprised you. Can't recall any rn! Skipping!
